Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.07% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 9.03% or 0.0062 points to trade at 0.0752 at the close. Meanwhile, RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) added 1.84% or 0.0175 points to end at 0.9675 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 1.20% or 3.50 points to 294.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which fell 4.64% or 5.50 points to trade at 113.00 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 3.20% or 1.130 points to end at 34.140 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was down 2.86% or 307.0 points to 10423.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 121 to 103 and 16 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.75% to 20.170 a new 52-week low.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.82% or 9.65 to $1162.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.20% or 0.61 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.23 to trade at $54.12 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.53% to 62.3067, while EUR/RUB fell 2.30% to 65.664.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 101.68.
