Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.13% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP), which rose 2.42% or 0.2450 points to trade at 10.3600 at the close. Meanwhile, CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) added 1.17% or 0.1080 points to end at 9.3110 and REN (LISBON:RENE) was down 0.47% or 0.0130 points to 2.7470 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which fell 4.13% or 0.1540 points to trade at 3.5790 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 3.62% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.2660 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) was down 3.54% or 0.1290 points to 3.5140.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 57 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) fell to all time lows; falling 3.62% or 0.0100 to 0.2660.
Brent oil for October delivery was up 0.65% or 0.33 to $50.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.19% or 0.08 to hit $43.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.46% or 16.20 to trade at $1123.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.30% to 1.1185, while EUR/GBP rose 0.81% to 0.7150.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.13% at 96.13.
