Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT), which rose 2.16% or 0.3150 points to trade at 14.8750 at the close. Meanwhile, Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 1.68% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.1820 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.61% or 0.0003 points to 0.0189 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sonae (LS:YSO), which fell 2.57% or 0.0180 points to trade at 0.6820 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) declined 2.03% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.5800 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) was down 1.96% or 0.0560 points to 2.8030.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 37 to 13 and 4 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 1.53% or 0.67 to $43.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.86% or 0.78 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.51% or 6.85 to trade at $1341.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1084, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 96.59.
