Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.16% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 7.17% or 0.0903 points to trade at 1.3500 at the close. Meanwhile, Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 6.84% or 0.0130 points to end at 0.2030 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 5.26% or 0.0400 points to 0.8000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP (LS:EDP), which fell 0.35% or 0.0100 points to trade at 2.8100 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) declined 0.23% or 0.001 points to end at 0.429 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was down 0.18% or 0.0020 points to 1.1280.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 30 to 5 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell to all time lows; losing 0.23% or 0.001 to 0.429. Shares in Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 5.26% or 0.0400 to 0.8000.
Brent oil for February delivery was up 1.32% or 0.70 to $53.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.65% or 0.82 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.75 to trade at $1172.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.40% to 1.0604, while EUR/GBP fell 1.02% to 0.8431.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 101.23.
