Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which rose 2.42% or 0.580 points to trade at 24.560 at the close. Meanwhile, SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 2.02% or 0.28 points to end at 13.89 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 1.88% or 0.134 points to 7.262 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which fell 4.95% or 1.69 points to trade at 32.34 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) declined 4.26% or 1.88 points to end at 42.22 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 3.58% or 2.53 points to 68.19.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 107 to 71 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.02% or 0.28 to 13.89. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.88% or 0.134 to 7.262. Shares in Heineken (AS:HEIN) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.58% or 2.53 to 68.19.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.46% to 19.97.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.35% or 2.15 to $51.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.73% or 2.45 to hit $54.29 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.59% or 6.90 to trade at $1167.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.0627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8444.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 101.28.
