Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Construction & Materials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which rose 1.84% or 0.81 points to trade at 44.62 at the close. Meanwhile, ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) added 1.37% or 1.40 points to end at 103.80 and DSM Kon (AMS:DSMN) was up 0.74% or 0.40 points to 54.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aegon (AMS:AEGN), which fell 2.15% or 0.155 points to trade at 7.043 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 2.10% or 0.21 points to end at 10.01 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was down 1.88% or 0.31 points to 16.14.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 150 to 94 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.37% or 1.40 to 103.80. Shares in DSM Kon (AMS:DSMN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.74% or 0.40 to 54.82. Shares in Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.88% or 0.31 to 16.14.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.46% to 17.59.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.99% or 0.57 to $56.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.14% or 0.09 to hit $62.15 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1187.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.7140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.38.
