Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty lost 1.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Sesa Sterlite Ltd (NSE:SESA), which rose 3.50% or 7.15 points to trade at 211.25 at the close. Meanwhile, TATA STEEL LIMITED (NSE:TISC) added 2.46% or 8.30 points to end at 346.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) was up 1.90% or 2.60 points to 139.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN), which fell 6.86% or 130.45 points to trade at 1770.05 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK) declined 6.26% or 58.45 points to end at 876.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) was down 4.61% or 50.20 points to 1037.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sesa Sterlite Ltd (BO:SESA) which rose 3.18% to 210.60, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 2.53% to settle at 345.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which gained 1.86% to close at 139.80.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 4.80% to 1037.30 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 4.22% to settle at 2476.20 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.23% to 534.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 988 to 448 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 441 fell and 145 advanced.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.60% to 15.0400.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.53% or 6.40 to $1204.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.08% or 0.61 to hit $56.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.49 to trade at $63.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.00% to 62.336, while EUR/INR rose 0.62% to 67.4770.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 97.36.
