Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Auto and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 3.67% or 27.95 points to trade at 789.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 3.22% or 33.15 points to end at 1061.30 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 2.69% or 5.65 points to 216.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 4.21% or 20.55 points to trade at 467.95 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.19% or 83.50 points to end at 3735.85 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 1.85% or 7.90 points to 418.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 3.26% to 1060.90, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.69% to settle at 563.20 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 2.14% to close at 215.00.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 2.19% to 3733.05 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.52% to settle at 188.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.52% to 314.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 806 to 779 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1387 fell and 1316 advanced, while 141 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.09% to 12.0050.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.07 to $1277.23 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $54.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.26 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 64.625, while EUR/INR rose 0.38% to 75.3009.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.55.
