Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 3.31% or 20.55 points to trade at 639.95 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 2.05% or 7.55 points to end at 376.20 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 2.37% or 14.10 points to 608.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 2.04% or 573.75 points to trade at 27602.15 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 1.93% or 57.50 points to end at 2926.75 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was down 1.79% or 4.60 points to 253.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 3.03% to 639.50, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.40% to settle at 608.30 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 2.08% to close at 319.20.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.62% to 1876.20 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.62% to settle at 9212.40 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.57% to 1274.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 872 to 733 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1400 rose and 1213 declined, while 154 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.18% to 12.4125.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1210.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.68% or 0.47 to hit $69.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.56 to trade at $78.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 70.825, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 82.8185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.50.
