Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 1.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.52%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were IDFC LIMITED (NSE:IDFC), which rose 4.20% or 6.20 points to trade at 153.80 at the close. Meanwhile, AXIS Bank Ltd. (NSE:AXBK) added 3.73% or 20.60 points to end at 572.15 and Yes Bank Ltd. (NSE:YESB) was up 3.55% or 29.50 points to 859.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI), which fell 2.19% or 9.50 points to trade at 424.50 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN) declined 0.58% or 10.60 points to end at 1806.20 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI) was down 0.50% or 4.95 points to 991.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 3.62% to 572.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was up 3.46% to settle at 315.15 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 3.33% to close at 74.55.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.25% to 424.20 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 0.52% to settle at 991.35 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was down 0.31% to 561.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1009 to 426 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 551 rose and 188 declined, while 2 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 2.67% to 15.4875.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.67% or 8.00 to $1193.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.86% or 0.52 to hit $60.48 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.61 to trade at $63.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.10% to 63.560, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 72.1250.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 94.39.
