Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.30% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC), which rose 9.20% or 6.90 points to trade at 81.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN) added 5.89% or 5.05 points to end at 90.75 and Cairn India Limited (NSE:CAIL) was up 5.10% or 8.10 points to 166.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT), which fell 4.26% or 36.40 points to trade at 817.20 at the close. AXIS Bank Ltd. (NSE:AXBK) declined 1.90% or 9.60 points to end at 496.80 and Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) was down 1.85% or 21.40 points to 1133.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 9.64% to 81.90, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 5.83% to settle at 90.70 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 4.25% to close at 236.80.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.92% to 496.90 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.88% to settle at 1133.15 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.78% to 589.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 883 to 546 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 462 rose and 298 declined, while 1 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.17% to 19.3375.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.16% or 1.80 to $1148.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.79% or 0.87 to hit $49.40 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.84 to trade at $52.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 65.031, while EUR/INR fell 0.32% to 73.1850.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.56.
