Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Healthcare and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.75%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 6.97% or 99.05 points to trade at 1519.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) added 5.36% or 39.00 points to end at 767.10 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 5.19% or 8.25 points to 167.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 2.77% or 64.55 points to trade at 2266.00 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 2.65% or 8.90 points to end at 326.75 and Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) was down 2.18% or 7.950 points to 356.100.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 6.93% to 1519.40, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 4.06% to settle at 252.70 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 3.36% to close at 278.75.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.18% to 2279.35 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which lost 1.34% to settle at 1399.85 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.09% to 838.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1091 to 412 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1977 rose and 835 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.19% or 8.25 to 167.10.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.02% to 16.5075.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.31% or 17.15 to $1287.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.52% or 0.67 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.54 to trade at $46.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 66.736, while EUR/INR fell 0.75% to 73.8550.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.74% at 97.66.
