Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Power and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.04% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW), which rose 3.19% or 2.00 points to trade at 64.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.76% or 10.40 points to end at 386.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 2.21% or 20.90 points to 967.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which fell 1.96% or 1.80 points to trade at 89.85 at the close. Cairn India Limited (NS:CAIL) declined 1.79% or 2.80 points to end at 153.85 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 1.74% or 3.80 points to 214.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which rose 3.27% to 64.65, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.11% to settle at 2516.05 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.01% to close at 1217.95.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 1.96% to 89.90 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.65% to settle at 194.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.53% to 348.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 710 to 699 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 415 rose and 389 declined, while 34 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.01% or 12.15 to 1217.95.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.34% to 16.5825.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.59% or 7.30 to $1235.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.68% or 0.26 to hit $38.06 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.04 to trade at $40.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 66.190, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 75.3380.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 94.54.
