Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Retail and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index lost 0.19%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 0.40% or 0.14 points to trade at 35.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 0.34% or 0.035 points to end at 10.420 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 0.18% or 0.120 points to 65.570 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which fell 1.46% or 0.088 points to trade at 5.936 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 1.45% or 1.800 points to end at 122.400 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 1.43% or 0.180 points to 12.415.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which rose 2.99% to 71.370, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was up 1.95% to settle at 101.950 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 1.81% to close at 23.335.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.23% to 54.380 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 2.17% to settle at 8.38 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 1.96% to 34.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 1.31% to 32.370, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 1.10% to settle at 27.65 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 1.08% to close at 41.045.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.69% to 6.149 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 1.21% to settle at 42.405 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 0.65% to 5.464 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 480 to 385 and 24 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.31% to 19.61 a new 1-month high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.05 to $1326.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.70% or 0.81 to hit $46.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.60% or 0.80 to trade at $49.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1175, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8542.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 95.66.
