Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Media and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.07%, while the MDAX index declined 0.28%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.37% or 0.166 points to trade at 7.169 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.76% or 0.215 points to end at 12.440 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 0.31% or 0.450 points to 146.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 3.46% or 0.625 points to trade at 17.445 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) declined 2.96% or 2.670 points to end at 87.460 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was down 2.80% or 2.040 points to 70.790.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 3.29% to 24.205, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 2.94% to settle at 56.750 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 1.70% to close at 52.14.
The worst performers were Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 1.99% to 51.710 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.79% to settle at 22.985 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.74% to 41.225 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 1.23% to 185.900, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 1.04% to settle at 44.615 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 0.89% to close at 12.485.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 20.00% to 0.036 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 5.11% to settle at 78.590 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 4.53% to 24.250 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 516 to 237 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.94% or 1.620 to 56.750.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.50% to 16.06.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.37% or 4.40 to $1201.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.70% or 0.89 to hit $53.14 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.09 to trade at $56.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.0659, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.8735.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.66% at 101.03.
