Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.36% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index gained 1.25%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 3.68% or 4.400 points to trade at 124.050 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 3.65% or 4.700 points to end at 133.350 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 3.55% or 0.405 points to 11.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 1.73% or 0.265 points to trade at 15.075 at the close. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) declined 1.37% or 1.750 points to end at 126.450 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was down 1.34% or 0.540 points to 39.705.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 7.44% to 56.140, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was up 4.86% to settle at 29.010 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 4.13% to close at 48.740.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.00% to 63.360 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 0.32% to settle at 48.150 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 0.19% to 5.80 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 6.06% to 25.11, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 4.52% to settle at 7.879 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.91% to close at 15.800.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 6.12% to 40.835 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which lost 1.69% to settle at 6.063 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.03% to 83.690 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 664 to 232 and 14 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.66% or 22.65 to $1344.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.91% or 0.38 to hit $41.55 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.44 to trade at $43.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1084, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8482.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.22.
