Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Leisure Goods, Gas & Water and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.26% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY), which rose 2.57% or 0.95 points to trade at 37.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) added 1.92% or 0.265 points to end at 14.060 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 1.38% or 0.30 points to 22.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ), which fell 2.49% or 0.46 points to trade at 17.80 at the close. Safran (PARIS:SAF) declined 1.89% or 1.23 points to end at 63.77 and Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) was down 1.53% or 0.99 points to 63.52.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which rose 9.55% to 56.580, Rubis (PARIS:RUBF) which was up 6.23% to settle at 64.45 and Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which gained 5.19% to close at 69.960.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which was down 5.70% to 15.795 in late trade, Coface (PARIS:COFA) which lost 2.73% to settle at 10.70 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) which was down 2.49% to 17.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 476 to 430 and 62 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rubis (PARIS:RUBF) rose to 3-years highs; rising 6.23% or 3.78 to 64.45.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.31% to 21.84.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.95% or 23.30 to $1215.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.77% or 0.47 to hit $61.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 0.95 to trade at $68.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.39% to 1.1369, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.7219.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.15% at 93.61.
