Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the REITs, Real Estate and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Alacer Gold Corp (TO:ASR), which rose 5.34% or 0.180 points to trade at 3.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Stella-Jones Inc. (TO:SJ) added 4.88% or 2.14 points to end at 46.03 and Canadian Apartment Properties REIT (TO:CAR_u) was up 4.00% or 1.15 points to 29.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Concordia Healthcare Corp (TO:CXR), which fell 5.06% or 0.36 points to trade at 6.76 at the close. Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb) declined 4.89% or 0.090 points to end at 1.750 and NuVista Energy Ltd . (TO:NVA) was down 3.15% or 0.210 points to 6.460.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 685 to 426 and 143 ended unchanged.
Shares in Concordia Healthcare Corp (TO:CXR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.06% or 0.36 to 6.76.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.13% to 15.60.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 6.35 to $1316.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.41% or 0.18 to hit $43.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.14 to trade at $45.91 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.01% to 0.7569, while CAD/EUR fell 0.16% to 0.6772.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.77.
