Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3), which rose 6.20% or 1.42 points to trade at 24.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 3.96% or 2.16 points to end at 56.75 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was up 2.70% or 0.40 points to 15.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 9.60% or 0.34 points to trade at 3.20 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 9.54% or 0.54 points to end at 5.12 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was down 9.53% or 3.24 points to 30.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 206 to 108 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to all time highs; rising 3.96% or 2.16 to 56.75. Shares in Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.53% or 3.24 to 30.75.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.76% to 52.61.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.74% or 8.40 to $1124.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.58% or 0.74 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.39% or 1.62 to trade at $115.25 .
USD/BRL was up 1.78% to 4.0568, while EUR/BRL rose 1.26% to 4.5160.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
