Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumption, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which rose 7.77% or 3.81 points to trade at 52.83 at the close. Meanwhile, CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) added 2.96% or 0.51 points to end at 17.73 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.89% or 0.07 points to 2.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 5.02% or 0.790 points to trade at 14.950 at the close. BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3) declined 4.21% or 0.85 points to end at 19.35 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 3.15% or 0.66 points to 20.26.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 155 to 146 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.96% or 0.51 to 17.73. Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.15% or 0.66 to 20.26.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.39% to 32.66 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.31% or 17.40 to $1314.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.53% or 0.24 to hit $45.69 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.31% or 0.45 to trade at $147.27 .
USD/BRL was up 0.07% to 3.2526, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 3.5819.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 97.16.
