Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 5.64% or 1.24 points to trade at 23.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) added 5.33% or 1.95 points to end at 38.55 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was up 2.43% or 0.24 points to 10.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 4.76% or 0.83 points to trade at 16.61 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) declined 3.69% or 0.530 points to end at 13.850 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 3.09% or 0.28 points to 8.77.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 203 to 152 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.33% or 1.95 to 38.55.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.73% to 33.53.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.99% or 13.10 to $1314.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.38% or 0.65 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.62% or 0.90 to trade at $145.80 .
USD/BRL was up 0.20% to 3.2370, while EUR/BRL fell 0.23% to 3.6061.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.06.
