Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Resources, Energy and Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Greencross Ltd (AX:GXL), which rose 6.19% or 0.250 points to trade at 4.290 at the close. Meanwhile, Blackmores Ltd (AX:BKL) added 5.51% or 7.15 points to end at 136.98 and Nanosonics Ltd (AX:NAN) was up 5.18% or 0.130 points to 2.640 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orocobre Ltd (AX:ORE), which fell 4.66% or 0.280 points to trade at 5.730 at the close. Syrah Resources Ltd (AX:SYR) declined 3.57% or 0.120 points to end at 3.240 and Mineral Resources Ltd (AX:MIN) was down 2.82% or 0.520 points to 17.950.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 633 to 554 and 390 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 10.67% to 11.935.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.21% or 2.80 to $1301.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.27% or 0.19 to hit $70.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.24 to trade at $78.55 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.15% to 0.7565, while AUD/JPY rose 0.12% to 82.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.88.
