Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Insurance and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Consumer Staples and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.98%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 4.85% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.080 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.00% or 0.010 points to end at 1.010 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) was up 0.38% or 0.002 points to 0.527 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which fell 3.75% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.513 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 2.27% or 0.030 points to end at 1.290 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was down 2.00% or 0.030 points to 1.470.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 11.11% to 3.000, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was up 6.32% to settle at 1.0100 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 3.28% to close at 0.630.
The worst performers were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 3.64% to 0.530 in late trade, Methaq (AD:METH) which lost 2.44% to settle at 0.800 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which was down 2.23% to 2.630 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 23 to 8 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 14 fell and 5 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.85% or 0.050 to 1.080. Shares in Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.32% or 0.0600 to 1.0100.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.34% or 0.67 to $49.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.32% or 0.67 to hit $50.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.65 to trade at $1271.95 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.31% to 4.0114.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 98.52.
