Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Services, Real Estate & Construction and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.98%, while the ADX General index lost 1.42%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 14.89% or 0.070 points to trade at 0.540 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 4.97% or 0.090 points to end at 1.900 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 3.55% or 0.022 points to 0.642 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which fell 2.27% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.430 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 2.21% or 0.030 points to end at 1.330 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 2.11% or 0.06 points to 2.78.
The top performers on the ADX General were Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which rose 5.92% to 5.90, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was up 3.05% to settle at 1.35 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 1.24% to close at 2.45.
The worst performers were Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 10.04% to 3.17 in late trade, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which lost 6.25% to settle at 0.90 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 4.36% to 2.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 5 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 17 fell and 6 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.54% or 1.01 to $38.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.27% or 0.92 to hit $39.55 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.90 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.13% to 4.1019.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.17.
