United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 1.51%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 1.51%, while the ADX General index gained 1.76%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 14.94% or 0.075 points to trade at 0.577 at the close. Meanwhile, Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) added 13.33% or 0.200 points to end at 1.700 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) was up 4.00% or 0.05 points to 1.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which fell 0.87% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.910 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 0.77% or 0.004 points to end at 0.514 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was down 0.51% or 0.040 points to 7.800.

The top performers on the ADX General were First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which rose 5.29% to 11.95, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 4.76% to settle at 0.880 and Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which gained 4.55% to close at 0.460.

The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 7.77% to 2.85 in late trade, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which lost 1.56% to settle at 3.15 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 1.35% to 7.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 4 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 rose and 8 declined, while 5 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.62% or 0.62 to $38.90 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.33% or 0.53 to hit $40.38 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.07% or 0.90 to trade at $1236.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.17% to 4.1558.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 94.88.
