Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Transport and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 1.22%, while the ADX General index added 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which rose 7.96% or 0.045 points to trade at 0.610 at the close. Meanwhile, Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) added 4.35% or 5.00 points to end at 120.00 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 2.97% or 0.019 points to 0.659 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 2.12% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.850 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) declined 1.33% or 0.020 points to end at 1.480 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was down 1.30% or 0.005 points to 0.380.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 6.85% to 0.780, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was up 3.23% to settle at 1.60 and Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which gained 2.86% to close at 1.08.
The worst performers were Al-Qaiwain Cmn (AD:QCEM) which was down 9.52% to 1.14 in late trade, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which lost 3.17% to settle at 0.610 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 2.90% to 0.670 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 22 to 5 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 rose and 12 declined.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.49% or 0.79 to $52.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.45% or 0.85 to hit $57.83 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.61% or 7.00 to trade at $1146.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.58% to 4.0195.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 97.37.
