Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.29% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 7.26% or 11.65 points to trade at 172.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 3.81% or 216.00 points to end at 5890.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.29% or 59.20 points to 1859.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 4.16% or 5.35 points to trade at 123.20 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 2.28% or 170.0 points to end at 7290.0 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was down 2.18% or 44.00 points to 1976.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1096 to 831 and 357 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.29% or 59.20 to 1859.40.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1322.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.59% or 0.42 to hit $70.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.16 to trade at $77.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.3565, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 92.32.
