Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.96% or 51.00 points to trade at 1079.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.79% or 5.7500 points to end at 157.3000 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.06% or 16.40 points to 552.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which fell 3.37% or 30.50 points to trade at 875.00 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) declined 2.88% or 160.00 points to end at 5400.00 and Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML) was down 1.83% or 3.60 points to 193.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1367 to 791 and 460 ended unchanged.
Shares in Next PLC (LON:NXT) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.88% or 160.00 to 5400.00.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.66% or 8.10 to $1236.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.68% or 0.26 to hit $38.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.41 to trade at $40.46 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.4388, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.7917.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 94.50.
