Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 6.93% or 37.90 points to trade at 585.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.44% or 4.7000 points to end at 141.5000 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.00% or 28.00 points to 961.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which fell 3.44% or 6.40 points to trade at 179.80 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 3.34% or 69.00 points to end at 1995.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was down 2.38% or 13.000 points to 534.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1128 to 949 and 474 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.50 to $1259.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.19% or 0.87 to hit $40.59 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.38% or 1.00 to trade at $42.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.82% to 1.4240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.79% to 0.8014.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 93.96.
