Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 4.15% or 27.00 points to trade at 678.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 3.73% or 6.90 points to end at 192.10 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 3.68% or 12.750 points to 359.450 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 4.65% or 36.00 points to trade at 738.50 at the close. Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) declined 3.76% or 8.00 points to end at 204.85 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was down 2.79% or 39.00 points to 1361.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1152 to 764 and 420 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.63% or 7.35 to $1158.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $52.90 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.08 to trade at $55.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.2687, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8375.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 101.06.
