Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Inmarsat PLC (LONDON:ISA), which rose 4.86% or 45.50 points to trade at 981.00 at the close. Meanwhile, BG Group PLC (LONDON:BG) added 3.41% or 32.80 points to end at 994.60 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSb) was up 2.83% or 47.00 points to 1706.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT), which fell 2.77% or 33.00 points to trade at 1156.00 at the close. St. James`s Place PLC (LONDON:SJP) declined 1.77% or 16.50 points to end at 915.50 and EasyJet PLC (LONDON:EZJ) was down 1.29% or 22.00 points to 1683.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1740 to 851 and 454 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.90% or 10.10 to $1132.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.32% or 2.69 to hit $45.25 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 5.75% or 2.73 to trade at $50.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.16% to 1.5379, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7271.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 96.17.
