Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance/Assurance and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN), which rose 3.68% or 7.900 points to trade at 222.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.63% or 31.10 points to end at 888.70 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 3.23% or 11.90 points to 380.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which fell 2.80% or 34.00 points to trade at 1182.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.42% or 26.00 points to end at 1049.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was down 2.13% or 46.00 points to 2113.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1244 to 912 and 460 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.23% or 11.90 to 380.70.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.01% or 13.25 to $1331.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.61% or 1.15 to hit $45.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 0.90 to trade at $46.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.08% to 1.2978, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8600.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.76.
