Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.09% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN), which rose 3.49% or 10.30 points to trade at 305.30 at the close. Meanwhile, BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) added 1.78% or 15.70 points to end at 898.50 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.56% or 7.500 points to 486.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which fell 5.99% or 121.00 points to trade at 1900.00 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 3.78% or 20.500 points to end at 522.000 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was down 3.64% or 49.000 points to 1296.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1059 to 1016 and 463 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.75% or 21.80 to $1226.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.48% or 0.20 to hit $41.96 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.20 to trade at $44.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.33% to 1.4157, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7959.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 94.86.
