Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Telecoms and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY), which rose 19.30% or 6.30 points to trade at 38.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce Futbol (IS:FENER) added 17.69% or 7.05 points to end at 46.90 and Eczacibasi Ilac (IS:ECILC) was up 8.79% or 0.270 points to 3.340 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ipek Dogal Enerji (IS:IPEKE), which fell 5.30% or 0.150 points to trade at 2.680 at the close. Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) declined 4.00% or 0.030 points to end at 0.720 and Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS) was down 3.12% or 0.07 points to 2.17.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 256 to 143 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 19.30% or 6.30 to 38.95. Shares in Eczacibasi Ilac (IS:ECILC) rose to all time highs; rising 8.79% or 0.270 to 3.340.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.17% or 2.00 to $1208.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.47% or 0.85 to hit $58.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.43% or 0.92 to trade at $64.94 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.46% to 2.5816, while EUR/TRY fell 1.04% to 2.8621.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 95.74.
