Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 2.10%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which rose 3.50% or 0.395 points to trade at 11.680 at the close. Meanwhile, Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 2.28% or 0.425 points to end at 19.045 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) was up 0.73% or 0.135 points to 18.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which fell 5.13% or 1.055 points to trade at 19.500 at the close. Telefonica (MC:TEF) declined 4.52% or 0.414 points to end at 8.743 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was down 4.19% or 0.450 points to 10.300.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 151 to 47 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gamesa (MC:GAM) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.28% or 0.425 to 19.045.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.47% or 6.30 to $1340.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.86% or 0.78 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.65 to trade at $43.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1082, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.60.
