Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which rose 0.85% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.710 at the close. Meanwhile, Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) fell 0.04% or 0.005 points to end at 10.990 and Indra A (MC:IDR) was down 0.13% or 0.015 points to 11.605 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which fell 4.38% or 0.054 points to trade at 1.180 at the close. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) declined 3.46% or 0.885 points to end at 24.720 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was down 3.28% or 0.191 points to 5.627.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 158 to 32 and 21 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.95 to $1349.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.28 to trade at $49.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8666.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 94.91.
