Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.67% or 0.313 points to trade at 4.393 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 6.00% or 0.069 points to end at 1.220 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 4.37% or 0.434 points to 10.365 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Endesa (MC:ELE), which fell 0.78% or 0.140 points to trade at 17.890 at the close. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) declined 0.57% or 0.035 points to end at 6.052 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) was down 0.39% or 0.04 points to 9.38.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 143 to 46 and 26 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.35% or 17.85 to $1338.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.25% or 0.12 to hit $48.21 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.13 to trade at $49.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.71.
