Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which rose 3.50% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.680 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 3.39% or 0.041 points to end at 1.252 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) was up 2.54% or 0.155 points to 6.267 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ACS Const. (MC:ACS), which fell 2.48% or 0.665 points to trade at 26.105 at the close. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) declined 0.95% or 0.265 points to end at 27.500 and Ferrovial (MC:FER) was down 0.63% or 0.115 points to 18.105.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 89 to 61 and 16 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.05% or 13.95 to $1318.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.90% or 0.41 to hit $45.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.62 to trade at $47.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1004, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.8351.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.20.
