Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 5.30% or 0.228 points to trade at 4.528 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 5.23% or 0.083 points to end at 1.671 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 3.91% or 0.068 points to 1.808 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which fell 1.59% or 0.16 points to trade at 9.67 at the close. Bankinter (MC:BKT) declined 0.60% or 0.041 points to end at 6.757 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was down 0.42% or 0.115 points to 27.520.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 117 to 70 and 25 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1214.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.51% or 0.25 to hit $49.26 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.43 to trade at $50.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7735.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.49.
