Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.58%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MTS (MCX:MTSS), which rose 5.63% or 13.40 points to trade at 251.50 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 4.31% or 0.740 points to end at 17.890 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 4.05% or 3.20 points to 82.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which fell 1.55% or 4.90 points to trade at 311.00 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 1.11% or 31.0 points to end at 2756.0 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was down 1.09% or 0.480 points to 43.725.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 129 to 88 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.05% or 3.20 to 82.20.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.41% to 35.550.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.50 to $1259.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.61% or 0.64 to hit $40.36 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 0.79 to trade at $42.73 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.72% to 66.6438, while EUR/RUB fell 0.75% to 76.062.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 93.94.
