Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 2.34% to hit a new 5-year low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which rose 1.05% or 0.0730 points to trade at 7.0100 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) added 0.46% or 0.0050 points to end at 1.0890 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was down 0.20% or 0.001 points to 0.508 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR), which fell 6.65% or 0.1780 points to trade at 2.4980 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) declined 6.54% or 0.1000 points to end at 1.4300 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was down 5.40% or 0.0300 points to 0.5260.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 39 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.65% or 0.1780 to 2.4980. Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell to all time lows; down 0.20% or 0.001 to 0.508.
Brent oil for September delivery was down 3.12% or 1.53 to $47.51 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.27% or 1.56 to hit $46.08 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.85 to trade at $1326.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.85% to 1.1023, while EUR/GBP rose 2.74% to 0.8349.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 96.54.
