Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.30%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 24.39% or 0.0300 points to trade at 0.1530 at the close. Meanwhile, CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) added 1.49% or 0.1010 points to end at 6.8650 and REN (LS:RENE) was up 0.98% or 0.0250 points to 2.5800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which fell 3.72% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.5170 at the close. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 3.30% or 0.0220 points to end at 0.6440 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was down 3.02% or 0.0450 points to 1.4440.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 36 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sonae (LS:YSO) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.30% or 0.0220 to 0.6440.
Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.79% or 0.38 to $48.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.12% or 0.52 to hit $47.12 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.62% or 8.45 to trade at $1367.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1088, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 96.22.
