Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 1.47% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.1380 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 1.18% or 0.0210 points to end at 1.8000 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 1.07% or 0.1500 points to 14.1550 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which fell 6.78% or 0.0029 points to trade at 0.0399 at the close. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) declined 6.74% or 0.0870 points to end at 1.2040 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was down 3.44% or 0.021 points to 0.589.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 28 to 20 and 2 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for June delivery was down 1.93% or 0.79 to $40.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.18% or 0.86 to hit $38.53 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.40% or 17.10 to trade at $1239.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.1256, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7836.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 95.43.
