Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which rose 2.88% or 0.3775 points to trade at 13.4975 at the close. Meanwhile, Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) added 1.64% or 0.0001 points to end at 0.0061 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) was up 1.61% or 0.0200 points to 1.2630 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP (LISBON:EDP), which fell 4.42% or 0.1550 points to trade at 3.3490 at the close. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) declined 2.63% or 0.0940 points to end at 3.4820 and Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA) was down 2.56% or 0.0640 points to 2.4350.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 38 to 27 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.88% or 0.3775 to 13.4975.
Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.21% or 0.65 to $52.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.90% or 0.92 to hit $47.60 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.59% or 6.40 to trade at $1095.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1024, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.7054.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 97.03.
