Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.68%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 11.18% or 0.0038 points to trade at 0.0378 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (LS:SEM) added 3.04% or 0.3400 points to end at 11.5400 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was up 1.59% or 0.1260 points to 8.0560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which fell 4.27% or 0.0850 points to trade at 1.9060 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 1.43% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.1380 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was down 0.45% or 0.0050 points to 1.0950.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 29 to 19 and 7 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for June delivery was up 3.29% or 1.45 to $45.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.06% or 1.30 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1255.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1331, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7876.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.25.
