Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.97% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 3.87% or 0.4300 points to trade at 11.5500 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP (LS:EDP) added 3.00% or 0.0900 points to end at 3.0950 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was up 2.99% or 0.2470 points to 8.5040 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which fell 4.52% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1480 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 3.64% or 0.0016 points to end at 0.0423 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was down 0.87% or 0.1220 points to 13.9080.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 25 to 19 and 9 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for May delivery was up 2.36% or 0.95 to $41.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.67% or 1.41 to hit $39.87 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 2.81% or 34.60 to trade at $1264.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.87% to 1.1323, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.7817.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
