Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 5.08% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 4.71% or 0.99 points to end at 21.99 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 0.87% or 0.04 points to 4.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which fell 4.21% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.950 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 1.64% or 2.00 points to end at 119.99 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 1.13% or 0.07 points to 6.13.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 21 to 13 and 56 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.79% or 0.34 to $42.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.16% or 0.54 to hit $45.59 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.17% or 1.80 to trade at $1072.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.56% to 210.900, while USD/NGN fell 0.08% to 199.030.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 99.73.
