Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.22% or 0.30 points to trade at 14.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 0.50% or 0.23 points to end at 47.04 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.34% or 0.050 points to 14.895 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aegon (AS:AEGN), which fell 11.37% or 0.549 points to trade at 4.278 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 7.32% or 4.19 points to end at 53.05 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) was down 5.07% or 1.78 points to 33.31.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 114 to 52 and 13 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.28% to 20.67.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.54% or 0.25 to $45.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.90% or 0.43 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.30% or 3.85 to trade at $1271.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.7874.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 94.06.
