Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 6.92% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 5.55% or 2.52 points to end at 47.84 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was up 1.73% or 1.02 points to 59.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which fell 1.44% or 0.049 points to trade at 3.350 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.18% or 0.16 points to end at 13.45 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was down 0.79% or 0.32 points to 39.52.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 98 to 65 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vopak (AS:VOPA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.55% or 2.52 to 47.84.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.61% to 18.77.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.88% or 0.40 to $45.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.00% or 0.47 to hit $47.40 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.19% or 14.85 to trade at $1265.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.7764.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 93.88.
