Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Plantation, Construction and Consumer Products sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR), which rose 1.17% or 0.24 points to trade at 20.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) added 0.95% or 0.04 points to end at 4.24 and DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) was up 0.91% or 0.05 points to 5.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which fell 1.97% or 0.06 points to trade at 2.98 at the close. Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) declined 1.79% or 0.28 points to end at 15.40 and Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) was down 1.08% or 0.06 points to 5.48.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 335 to 203 and 50 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.61% or 0.34 to $56.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.56% or 0.35 to hit $61.72 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.32% or 3.70 to trade at $1167.20 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.59% to 2.8047, while USD/MYR rose 0.61% to 3.7813.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 96.08.
